Sivan Ilan is a Philadelphia-based creative whose work incorporates traditional practices and craftsmanship methods in a contemporary expression. With a focus on embroidery and weaving, Sivan's fiber paintings are handmade pieces of textiles, created to be cherished and treasured.
" Through the media of needlework and hand-weaving I draws attention to dedication, purpose and meaning of material objects - posing the question 'what is precious?' ; encouraging a relationship with objects that is based on personal narrative or significance. "

Sivan seeks to revive and sustain the heritage and tradition of textile making by creating one-of-a-kind individual works that are non-utilitarian; formed solely for the purpose of being treasured, cherished and admired.
